Underage drinking and bad checks at the bar

Boyfriends brother wrote numerous check to a bar in Charlottesville, VA. Bar never carded him. He was at the time of this incident under21. They are now taking him to court for the amounts of the checks. Is he still responsible for the debt? Please help

The fact that this underage miscreant was never

carded has absolutely nothing to do with his apparent criminal intent to victimize the bar

by way of writing bad checks for goods/services which he gladly received, but, apparently, had no intention of paying for.

In other words, he's as responsible for these alleged criminal acts, as any other human would be who had commited similar acts and was 21+ at the time.
