Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Unpaid balance

I am writing on behalf of my mother. She is 86 years old and up until last year she was in a assisted living which she paid for through funds of her home sale. All the money ran out so last Sept she is in a nursing home. The nursing home gets her social sec check . She still has a small balance $3600 she owes to FIA Card Service. I have been trying to continue paying the bill monthly but it is getting harder on me. My brother tells me to just write them a letter teling them the money is gone , she is in a nursing home and she cant pay for it. It is in her name and comes to my home so I am scared. Can they come after me or her. What do you advise I do. Thanks

Re: Unpaid balance

No, "they" cannot come after you for what your mother may owe, and it would appear that your brother has given you sound advice.
