Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia
verizon phone collection
To legal advisor, approx 2001 verizon sent me a bill for $876. I paid it, a few months later I received another bill I called them up & gave them the check # over the phone, I did not hear from them for @ least a yr. (2002) I told them I called last time & gave them the check # they need to look it up and find it; I received several bills from them that yr & I responded I wasn't paying twice. Apprx. another yr went by it was turned over to a collection agency & I received another bill (2003)I called again, they needed proof this time, & by this time I could not find my registers & you need a check # to get a bank statement, they pursued me; I told them I paid it & gave Verison the check # & I was'nt going to pay it again, they sent threat letters to me several times I sent a dispute letter, they finely stoped. Each time any of these companies pursued me it was periodic. By 2005 I finely burned all old records of any thing, a few months after that it started up again with another co. & it stopped, this changed collection hands several times would quit & start up again it's been @ least 6 months & here another letter of threat to me & my credit.

Re: verizon phone collection
If you have paid the Verizon bill and have already submitted proof of such payment to them and their assigned collectors, you may have a viable cause of action against one or more of these collectors based upon one or more of their possible violations of the FDCA (Fair Debt Collection Act)and related statutes.
