Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia
wage garnishment
If a company takes you to court to obtain a judgement but the plaintiff does not show and the judge dismisses the case can the company garnish your wages? if so is there a time limit on how long after the case they can do so?

No, they can't (unless the case was dismissed without prejudice and they re-file, or they get the court to reconsider the dismissal). Unless it's the government (for certain tax and student loan-type debts), they need a judgment before they can garnish.
