Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Warrant in debt- never served

There is a judgment on my credit report for VCU and I was never served. Never received anything in the mail, never personally served. I called to discuss and the original debt was $1910 since 2002 but they have 9% since that date until now. They never served me. Is this legal? Is there a way to dispute this? The judgment was filed 6/25/02 and the hearing was 7/24/02 according to their online system.

Service can be made in various ways that you may or may not have received. You may want to go or send someone to the court and look at the file and see what it says. If service was not valid, you can move to vacate the judgment.
