Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Warrant In Debt

In 1987, I won a judgment against a person to whom I sold an automobile. He disappeared then, but I recently found him only about 120 miles away. Has the statute of limitations expired on the warrant/judgment? I am in the state of Virginia, and this is where the judge ruled in my favor back in 1987.

Re: Warrant In Debt

A Virginia judgment lasts no more than 20 years (10 years in the case of a General District Court judgment) unless renewed before expiration.
