Warrent of Debt
My friend in Virginia was just served a warrent of debt--neither of us know what this is or what to do with it.

Re: Warrent of Debt
A warrant in debt is simply a civil lawsuit in General District Court in Virginia. There is a return date scheduled on the warrant. If you miss that, judgment will likely be entered against you for the amount sought. If you appear and contest the case, a trial date will be set (in some cases in some counties, they try them on the first return date, but that is rare). You would be well advised to retain counsel to defend you.
