You should prepare and submit a statement(up to 250 words)to each of the major credit reporting agencies to be inserted into your credit file
to explain a situation over which you have virtually no control.
Re: former wife using my address and phone number
Hmmm... If she is not using your name, then it
will not go on your credit report, as long as
everyone understands you two are no longer
married. The concern would be that someone fails
to understand that you are no longer married.
You should follow my colleague's advice,
emphasizing that you have not been married to her
for 7 years and you have no relationship to her
debts.
However, her behavior is fraudulent with regard
to those creditors. I assume she has an actual
address that she could use to get credit and
is not living on the street or something. If
she is using your address instead of her own,
then she is apparently trying to take items on
credit without paying for them, by hiding her
true location. If you can tell her to stop
without reporting it, I would warn her that this
might eventually get her in legal trouble.
Obviously, keep returning the letters without
opening them "does not live here"
