Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Writ of Garnishment

I won a small claims judgment case in Texas against a client in Virginia. They will not pay and I would like to serve Writ of Garnishment to client and bank. Do I need to get a judgment in Virginia first? If so how.

Re: Writ of Garnishment

You have to get a Congressional Certification and a certified copy of the judgment from the clerk of court where you got the judgment. Then you need to make contact with an attorney in Virginia to enter the Texas judgment as a sister-state judgment in Virginia, and collect upon the judgment.

You really can't do it from here because the laws and fees of Virginia are diferent from that of Texas.
