Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

This is my first year in college. Sadly there were no more available dorms left on campus so I had to find off campus housing. I signed a 11 month lease for an apartment relying on the information that my college financial aid office provided me. I was told that I was going to get a certain amount of money back in a refund check for both fall and spring semester. The amount promised to me would have been enough to cover my rent. Sadly, the story was indeed too good to be true and I received a considerably less amount than what i was promised. I could only afford the the first three months of rent. Knowing that I wouldn't be able to afford the remainder of the lease I pack my stuff and moved out. I told my landlord and they said that I am still responsible for the rent. I am a 18 year old college student and I have no money to pay them I am just starting my life. I went to court and I had a judgment against me. I told them that I couldn't afford to pay the judgment and now I have to go to an assets hearing in a little over a month. I cant afford an attorney or anything and I don't know what to do and these people just keep haunting me. What can I do? Can you provide with a list of what they can't take form please? Like property exemptions? Thank You soo much for your help.

You might wish to consider filing an Homestead Deed Exemption pursuant

to Va. Code Sec. 34-2 to shield at least some of your assets and

wages from enforcement of this judgment.
