Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Last year, a person who I thought was a friend gave me $500. He eventually wanted to be more than friends, I said no. Few months later, my boss got what looked like a court subpoena requesting to garnish my wages for $650. He never asked me for the money back or anything. I'm really confused. What can I do?

You should consider going to the court which issued the garnishment

and tell the clerk you wish to contest it and also schedule a hearing

before this court to set aside any judgment that may have been entered

against which resulted from an underlying court action of which you

were never given proper notice.

As for your grounds of defense against the claim itself, it should, of course,

be that you considered this money a gift as nothing was ever told to you

by this "friend" that gave any indication that it was otherwise.
