Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Three years ago, my boyfriend at the time, gave me a riding lawn mower. We broke up a year and a half ago. He texted me last week and stated the place he purchased the mower from, Schewels, is going to start garnishing his check. I know I don't have to return it to him, but can Schewels come take this mower?

If they own it, yes. Sounds like they prefer to have his money. He should not be giving you something he does not own.
