Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

In 1997 I had a misamenor for shopping twice within 6months. The first time was probation for one year and the second time I served 5 days in jail. I've went on to school but afraid this will stop me from getting a job like teaching or govn't positions. I've gone to conseling and have been on meds since this occurance. I've always been an outstanding citizen prior military but live with shame. Can I get this taken off my record

Unfortunately, as I understand the current state of Virginia law regarding expungement of criminal records, Va. Code Sec. 19.2-392.2(F) allows only for the possibility of the expungement of one misdemeanor offense and no more than one. Nevertheless, you should, of course, still be able to apply to the governor for a pardon of whatever crimes of which you've been convicted.
