Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
I am 36 from va., i was in and out of group homes my whole life until the age of 18, at 18 my stuff was stolen out of the independent living house that i was living in through the boys home. Now at 36 i find out my parents have this stuff plus all my other stuff from childhood locked in thrre basement. They refuse to let me in. Can i file a civil claim on any of this?
The statue of limitations has ran out on the police report i file at the time of the breaking and entering and the theft.

No, I don't think so as generally a Warrant in Detinue which is a civil claim for the return of personal property being wrongfully withheld, must be filed in the general district court against the person(s) who allegedly are
liable for this wrongful taking/withholding within two years of the act.
