Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

1 year good behavior and such.

Well I went to my exes house to retrieve my S.S. card and money he owed me. They said it was fine to come get it. They decided to tell me when I got there they didn't have it. I was NEVER on there property! My exes 40 year old dad and I exchanged some words. His dad came charging down the drive way towards me and chest bumped me so hard i went all the way across the other side of the st. and busted my head and instantly had a huge know. I am 17 years old he is 40 something. I went to the ER beings the ambulance said i HAD to go be seen and get a cat scan! 8 days later my exes dad filed assault charges on me saying i shoved him first. I NEVER layed my hands on him!!! He was charged w/ class 1 misdemenor. All of our witnesses in his case are his family in my case is my best friend. Is it possible both charges will be dropped?? I also have NO insurance and close to 3k in hospital bills. I am also on 1 year good behavior. What is most likely in this case going to be done? I go to court for my assault charges July 11th. The following Friday we go for his dads charges.

Re: 1 year good behavior and such.

You'll need a competent criminal defense counsel to represent you in these matters. And, if you cannot afford to hire one on your own, then be prepared to ask the court to appoint one for you when you go for your next scheduled hearing.

(Going anywhere near that property was a big mistake on your part, particularly to retrieve money from your ex you claim he owed you. If the facts are as you claim, it's pretty obvious that you were set up.)
