accused of hitting a police officeor

my wife was accused of hitting a police man 2 times and she is up for 2 counts of felony she never hit anyone but they lied about it now she wants to go to court to try and win this but they offered her to reduce the charge to a mistimeanor. shoud she take the charge of just fight for her right. she has no record she has never been in trouble before. they say if she fights it and loses she will go to jail for 1 year we have no money we have five children and we are foster parents please help some please give us advise.

I never have and never will advise anyone who is charged with a crime of which in no way, shape or form, could the person be guilty, to agree to enter a plea of guilty to that crime or even to a so-called lesser included offense, if in fact the person is not guilty of that particular offense.

These days even a misdemeanor conviction on one's record can have many unanticipated adverse effects.
