Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

I was convicted in District Court for Misdemeanor assault. receive thirty days in jail. So I appealed and the person who press charges will not come back to court. Will this case be dismissed or will they go after the person who charged me.??

If the Commonwealth requires the presence of your accuser as a witness
necessary to prove its case in the appeal of the matter to the circuit court, and the accuser fails to appear for the scheduled trial, the matter will then likely be dismissed.
