i got arrested for drunk in public, will i go to jail?

i got arrested last night for drunk in public, and i got out this morning and the court date is tomorrow. am i going to get any jail time for this? i was arrested for the same thing about 4 years ago, is this going to affect my sentencing? or is this just going to be a fine.

So-called DIP(Drunk in Public)charges in Virginia, I believe, no longer carry possible jail sentences, although, one charged with such an offense may be held in detention until he or she sobers up, as was the case, apparently, with you.

In terms of an actual sentence for your offense(assuming that you are found or plead guilty) some monetary fine will likely be assessed against you, part of which might also be suspended by the court imposing the sentence.
