Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

I have an Assault on a family member charge. I have no record and am not sure what to do. My boyfriend and I were very intoxicated one evening and were rough-housing outside. Three witnesses report that I was seen running up the street punching him and that's when they called the police. I do not know what to do. What should I do? My arraignment is on 9/30/2009. I have no funds for a lawyer and do not know how I should plea. I am also not sure if my rights were read to me before I was arrested.

Ask the court to appoint you an attorney if you have no funds of your own to hire one. Then follow this lawyer's instructions. (FYI, whether or not your Miranda rights were read to you at the time of your arrest is likely to be a matter of little moment.)
