Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
i was assaulted at prom. i filed a complaint with a deputy sheriff. he didn't file any charges what should i do?

Forget about the deputy; go see the local magistrate and request to file your complaint.

If it was a sexual assault, the magistrate won't issue a warrant based on a citizen complaint alone. In that case, call the sherift's dep't and ask to speak to a supervisor, and/or call the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.
