Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Assult charges

A warrant was issused on an indivdual, for assault, the charges were dropped by the indivdual pressing charges. The indivual went to the police station and requested the charges be dropped. Will the warrant still be outstanding on that indivdual. If so what does he have to do. Thank You.

Re: Assult charges

The person who claimed to have been the victim of an assault can call the local prosecutor(assistant commonwealth's attorney)assigned to the case and explain why she would like the prosecutor's office to drop the charges.

Whether in fact they do so, will be up to them (and not the police department)and not the person who initially made the complaint and now wishes that it would all go away.
