Bad Checks

38 year old female had 13 felonies for bad checks total amount 5,000 plea bargain down to 4(3 bad checks and 1 charge of stealing the checks.1st time offender never in trouble before.She is Bi-Polar and was off of her meds at time of incident..has already served six months waiting for sentencing which is 10/02/07.She has a job waiting for her once she is released from her obligations.There is a presentencing report being done also.I am her dad..can you think of anything else that I can do to help her sentencing be light. thanks--name removed--.PS and from your professional opinion do you think she will serve much time

Yes, unfortunately, your daughter will undoubtedly be sentenced to serve more time than she's already served for the four felonies to which she's apparently already pled. (Regarding how much more is likely would be a question for her attorney.)

On Oct. 2, 2007, the sentencing judge will very likely be interested in hearing as to what are the short as well as long term treatment plans for your daughter in order to prevent a recurrence of the crimes which finally brought her before the court for sentencing. The more presuasive these plans are, the greater the likelihood of at least some leniency in her sentence.
