can a convicted felon in va. own a black powder rifle legally ? and hunt with same? ty

It would appear that back powder muzzleloaders are exempt from both the GCA(Gun Control Act)and the NFA(Nationa Firearms Act) and therefore are also not likely to be restricted to convicted felons under the laws of the Commonwealth. (See 27 CFR 479.11)However, more research may be required to provide a more definitive answer to this question.
