Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
My boyfriend stopped paying the restitution for a grand larceny charge form 1998, he had been paying on it every mnoth for 15 years untill May of this year. This may he was court ordered to pay 700 dollars a month in child support and was short on cash. He is in custody in MD now and is being sent back to VA where the warent was issued from. Once he gets there what will happen? Will they put him in jail for failing to pay the restitution? Even after 15 years of good payments. The orginal bill was a little over 25,000 he only owes $4,384 now. Please help

Your boyfriend should have an appropriately experienced Virginia criminal defense attorney representing him on the Virginia charge, and if he cannot afford
to retain such on his own, then he should ask the court to appoint one
to represent him.
