Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

my boyfriend is in VA regional jail, he was sentenced to 6 years in jail over 4 months ago, but has not been relocated to a prison. He asked me to find him a lawyer that would be able to file a rit form but im having a hard time locating one, is there anyway that i can file it without one. What are my options? But the hard thing is that im located in new york city.

Yes, that makes it a "hard thing" indeed (your being in New York City and your boyfriend being in a Virginia jail).

However, other than hiring a competent Virginia criminal defense counsel to review the matter to determine what your boyfriend's realistic options (if any) might be in his current situation, I know of no others (and, needless to say, none that would include your filing a "writ" from Gotham City in behalf of your boyfriend.
