capias

2 years ago a check bounced for 5.00 , this since has been paid

i went to court when i was supposed to from the paper received from the cop, upon arriving i found i was not on the docket, not receiving a court date i beleived everything was taken care of, i later received a paper that i was capias. I went to the magistrates office to see what i could do and he said to go to the police station, there they arrested me and took me back to the magistrates office where i signed a paper and was to appear in court next month for fta and bad check. what kind of defense do i have against this, and what could the judge sentence?

Re: capias

Bring credible proof to your hearing that whatever you owed for this bad check, you paid. Show this to the prosecutor assigned to your case before the matter is called. Also, explain to this person, carefully, what happened in terms of the FTA charge.

Then, when your case is called, be prepared to explain it all again to the judge.
