Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Change Sentence
A judge sentenced my girlfriend to 6 months in jail, can I write to the judge and ask him to change the sentence (e.g., weekend time, addiction treatment, etc) with out going back to court. I have various reason all of which I am sure he has heard before but I would like to try.

Re: Change Sentence
It would be better for your girlfriend
to write this letter to the judge rather than you(although you could assist her with the draft) which should outline the various mitigating reasons which might cause the judge to consider shortening (or altering) her sentence along with the measures which the defendant intends to underetake to prevent her from having to come back to court in the future.
