Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Could I be charge with obstruction?

My brother was stopped for traffic violation and he does not has a driver license. He gave the police officer my name, SS# and birthday and signed the ciation without my knowledge. I found out about it the following week and contacted officer who made the stop and told her that it was my brother who gave her my information but I do not wish to press charge against him I just want the ticket clear of my name. The officer told me I've to cooperate with her or I'll be charge with obstruction. Is the officer correct that I could be charge with obstruction if I'm not pressing charge againts my brother?

You may be charged with such. An individual does not really have the right to say I am not going to press charges in a criminal matter. However, I am not sure how much more help the officer needs. You already told her that it was your brother who was driving not you and that he gave false information. What esle is she requesting from you?
