Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
I've been charged with assault and battery by my ex girlfriends father pertaining to an incident where the opposite is true, he attacked me but I did not press charges or even see the need to protect myself (he's weak and disabled). He claims instead that I attacked him, and his sister is corroborating his testimony in retaliation to me evicting his daughter from my home after both prior notice greater than 30 days, and a direct attack from her on myself, after which she was taken away in hand cuffs. I've been convicted buy I'm appealing it. Its there nothing in the law that protects against family conspiracy like this? I have a clean record, not a single charge or arrest before dealing with this family.

It sounds as though you decided you could risk representing yourself (pro se) in
this criminal matter and consequenrly ended up being convicted.
If the above is correct you should engage ASAP the services of an experienced criminal defense
attorney to have any chance of avoiding having your conviction sustained on appeal.
