Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

I'm being charged with a Class 1 Misdemeanor.

I'm 18-years-old, the charge is ''Assault & Battery Against a Family or Household Member'', and this is my first criminal offense. I suffer from bipolar disorder, and I've already spent two weeks in a psyche ward because of this incident. What punishment am I likely to receive?

You should have a lawyer representing you on this domestic violence charge. If you cannot afford to hire one, you can ask the court to appoint an attorney to represent you. This person will be in the best position to advise you as to what kind of a disposition your case is likely to receive with you as a first time offender in adult criminal court.
