Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

I was charged with grand larceny

i was working at a retail store and a guy came to my line with a lot of stuff he did say to me that money was tight. so i started ring up hes stuff and slide through some paks of undergarments but rung up all big ticket items, after i gave him the total he said he didn't have enough money and to void some items off i did and started taking the stuff out then he handed me his check so i processed it and gave reciept i did forget to take everything out do to me being sudetracked , because i was processing his check. I wasnt intentional, so i feel like i shouldnt be charged for the stuff he paid for only the stuff that i didnt take out of the cart if anyting along with the undergarment i slide throw. The total for everything was 320 but he paid for 147.00 so that not $200 i dont have money for a lawyer so i need some help with what to day in court.

Get a lawyer, one experienced in Virginia criminal law and practice. If you can't afford to

hire one, go to the court and ask that one be appointed to represent you. If you don't qualify because of too high income, consider legal aid as a possible resource for an attorney.
