check fraud
defendant has a terminally ill mother..she is an only child..can her sentence be forgiven because of this? or reduced? or is any weight given to this at all?Does it depend solely on the sentencing judge Thanks

A terminally ill mother will not nullify a criminal act. It may help with sentencing. Contact an attorney. You may have other ways to beat the charge.

Certainly not "forgiven"(commuted), and probably not even reduced(but she could still try), and, yes, it would up to the original sentencing judge to decide to reduce it.
