cocaine possession
can two different people possess the same cocaine. Does having a motel room in a persons name constitute posession if the said drug is found in the room and not on the person

Re: cocaine possession
Who did or didn't possess the cocaine is for the prosecutor and defense attorney to argue over depending on all the facts of the case. Obviously someone accused of possession of cocaine needs to hire a good lawyer, especially if the amount in question is more than a very small quantity.
Re: cocaine possession
Possession does not mean ownership, it mearly means that the person had control or the opportunity to control the drugs, knew the drugs were within their control, and knew of the nature of the drugs.
While it's possible for two people to possess the same drugs at the same time, its fairly unusual to see things prosecuted that way (unless both people are denying the possession).
I'd definitly recommed getting a lawyer to help you evaluate any defenses you may have.
