Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
compound misdemeanors
my friend has been for trespassing and larceny by the military police, while on probation. he has to go to federal court and he was wondering if the federal court could compound his misdemeanor larceny with the 4 prior state larceny charges to make it a felony? will he be violated on his probation and what is the worst outcome of this situation?

Re: compound misdemeanors
No, the federal misdemeanor charge will not be linked to the four previous state convictions to convert it to a felony.
Yes, he will likely be found guilty of having violated his probation and some sanction imposed.
Worst outcome? Some time in the local slammer for your friend who apparently still hasn't learned the lessons which he needs to learn.
