Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
I got convicted of petit larceny for stealing $40 worth of stuff from target, they took all the stuff back and we were very cooperative, I was wondering what the overall fines/court fees would be and if it is absolutely necesary to geta lawyer? I am an honors student, this is my first offense and I have very bad anxiety and depression and was wondering if those factors wouldhave any sway?

Petit larceny is a jailable offense and therefore you should
be represented by an attorney, and, if you cannot afford to
hire one on your own, then you should request that
the court appoint a lawyer to represent you in this
criminal matter.
