Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
To Cooperate
If someone has been charged with a federal meth distribution charge. And on march19 was the when they got indicted. Could voluneering to cooperate as a CI to catch anybody on there list be a good idea. He is an illegal alien also could I do anything such wise to help him also. Could they also drop a ICE detainer if such things be done? I am just trying to think of everything possible I have 2 of his kids and 1 on the way.

Re: To Cooperate
Yes, cooperating as an informant with the federal prosecutors and their investigators could be a worhwhile move for this defendant(and result in a reduced sentence), but only after he's had an opportunity to review it with his lawyer. Unfortunately, however, under the circumstances described, it's unlikely to avail this defendant of anything in terms of his receiving bail in this matter.
