Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Cop did NOT read me my rights
I was recently arrested for assult & battery and when I was arrested the officer did not read me my rights he just cuffed me and drove me down to the county jail where I was realeased on an unsecured bond. I have never been arrested before nor have I ever been in trouble with the law.
Is there anything I can do about an officer not reading me my rights?

Re: Cop did NOT read me my rights
No, except if you go to trial and you made incriminating admissions in the presence of law
enforcement officials, before being properly mirandized, you or your attorney could move to have those admissions excluded from the trial evidence.
The fact that you were not read your Miranda rights would not be a basis to request that the case be dismissed.
