Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Corruption of minors, what is it?
What exactly is considered as corruption of a minor? What about an eighteen year old watching MTV and violent movies with a 3 year old sibling? What about an eighteen year old girl walking around in a towel (after shower) while a thirteen year old boy is visiting? What about watching pornography with room door wide open, knowing that children underage live there? What about lending to minors (nine and fourteen years old)a laptop that contains files with pornography ? What should be done when one sees a father kissing and fondling his nine year old daughter? Sounds crazy, but one sees a lot of things while babysitting! I ask you because I could not find an exact definiton on line.
Thank you for your time and answers.

Re: Corruption of minors, what is it?
Of your examples listed, I see only one which could possibly merit a call to the Child Protective Services agency on their hotline, namely, the "fondling father", depending, of course, on exactly what kind of fondling he was supposedly engaged in.
The other examples in my view would not support the charge of Corruption of a Minor nor any other criminal conduct for that matter.
Re: Adventures in babysitting
More to the point, what are you going to do about all these Bad Things that you are witnessing? Call the cops? Call the Child Protective Services? Just what do you think will happen then? This is real life, not some TV show. On TV all you have to do is call the authorities and they will ride in on white horses and make everything right. In the real world, calling the authorities often makes the situation worse. The police and the CPS have their own priorities, and making things better for the "victims" is not necessarily one of them. As a babysitter you are not required to report anything to anyone. If I were you I would 1) Mind my own business; 2) Quit babysitting at any home where you are uncomfortable with the scene; 3) Write a book about all the stuff you say you saw, and sell the rights to Hollywood, or maybe Lifetime Cable TV.
