Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

my cousin and i got arrested at a wrestling event for petty larceny, we were accused of selling lanyards with pics of wrestlers with a web site to get a free poster. we recivied these for free as did everyone else who had them since the national guard was giving them out, we were told the police were told we said they were backstage passes, which we did not and the cards have right on them what they are for. we were taken downtown told we would have to wait to see a magistraite, then 10 minutes later released with no bond and given a date to appear in court. my question is, are we actually guilty of a criminal charge? we never told anyone that they were backstage passes. seems to me this is a civil case if anything at all. am i right and should i fight it or not.

Why, yes, of course, you should "fight it", but with a competent

criminal defense counsel to represent you in the matter(if at all

possible).
