Can the Prosecuteor bring up past criminal charges about a defendent in their case?

Yes, if the defendant opens the door to the issue, so to speak, by taking the stand at his or her trial and testifying, or by allowing others to testify in his or her behalf on issues involving the defendant's character, the prosecutor may then bring up on cross examination any prior felony convictions or convictions for crimes involving moral turpitude such as petty larceny which may be accurately attributed to the defendant's criminal history.
