Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
A deposit had recently gone missing from my place of employment. I was the one responsible for the deposit. After an investigation occurred I'm going to be charged with felony theft. I just found the deposit. What should I do and what kind of trouble can I expect to be in?

You claim that you now "just found the deposit". If you have credible
reasons and circumstances to explain this recent discovery and that support your claim of innocence, contact your supervisor(s) and make them aware of it.
However, if such is not the case and that your story is simply less than
believable, your best approach is likely to retain the services of a competent criminal defense counsel in your local area to represent you in this matter.
I never believe a person who may be charged criminally should make a statement without hiring an attorney first. Statements may be construed in a different ways. They can be used against you. Police are given liberal rights in obtaining confessions. Hire and attorney to run interference. Whether you are guilty or not - you need protection. Attorney Sheryl Shane.
