Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

depositions

If a person is incarcerated with pending case for the sale of drugs and his trial is pending and depositions are given and signed, the defendant's attorney gives him a copy of the deposition that is to be presented in court and a copy of the depositon is sent by a third party to the person who has given the deposition--is this legal?

Re: depositions

Normally, in the trial of a Virginia criminal case, witnesses are required to appear and testify and such witnesses are not deposed before the trial. In some instances where an important witness is out of state, it might be permitted(taking a deposition)but would still be quite unusual.

As to your particular situation regarding the taking of such a deposition and reference to some third party sending a copy of it to the person who was supposedly deposed, I quite frankly don't understand what you're talking about.
