Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

driving on suspended license

Saturday my mom called me and told me that a York County deputy called her house and wanted me to call him. I called the number she gave me and asked for Deputy Scouten. He started questioning me about where I work and eventually told me that he saw me driving, knows my license is suspended, and that I had to either come meet him somewhere so he could issue me a summons or he would take a warrant out for my arrest. I had my mom take me to meet him because I am on probation and didn't want to get arrested. He took my license and issued me a summons for driving outside of my restrictions because I have a suspended license. Can he do that?!?!?!

Re: driving on suspended license

Sure, and what's more, he did. (You were under no obligation to answer the deputy's questions and probably incriminated yourself in one or more of your answers.)
