Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Want to drop assault and battery charges...
My bf and I had an argument and I ended up taking out charges on him. He did NOT hit me or strike me. I was aore from where he grabbed me about my wrists but that's it. At the time I was distraught and my parents were telling me on the phone to do it, and I did. But he does NOT deserve to be punished for my mistake. This is his third charge for this and I'm terribly afraid this stupid mistake is going to end up harming him, and he doesn't deserve it. Please help give me any advice you can. Thank you.
Gratefully yours

Re: Want to drop assault and battery charges...
You say that this is his "third charge for this"(meaning assault & battery, I guess)but that
your boyfriend doesn't deserve to be punished for what you're now characterizing as your mistake.
Doesn't make a whole lot of sense(at least to me)
but, perhaps, you should explain it all to the assistant commonwealth attorney(ACA)assigned to this case who will decide whether this particular and most recent "mistake" of yours should be prosecuted--or not.
