embezzlement/fraud case
if a person uses a company issued
credit card to make personal
purchases and then alters or
fabricates the receipts and turns
them in as business expenses what is
the likely charge? and the likely
sentence if convicted? (state of
virginia, over $50000 in charges, no
previous criminal history)

Some charge amounting to theft such as obtaining money under false pretenses, would be likely from this scenario.
Given the amount of the defalcation, this offense, of course, would be a felony, and depending upon the jurisdiction involved could easily result in actual time served by the one convicted ranging from 1-5 years in the state penitentiary.
