I would like to know if a Felony charge can be espunged, (Conspiracy to Money Launder charge) from 9 years ago? What are the nessesary steps to take? Who do I contact? How long does an espungement take to be completed?

Thanks

Re: Espungement of Criminal Record

If this was a federal charge of which you were convicted in federal court, you should monitor the progress of House Bill(H.B.) 662 introduced by Congressman Charles Rangell this past February to allow for the expungement of certain non-violent federal crimes committed by first time offenders.

Money laundering could be among them.

A charge can be expunged if you were found not guilty or the charge was "nolle prossed" or dropped by the prosecutor. If this is the case one files a petition for expungement in the Circuit Court where the charge was placed. You need a lawyer to help you. Good luck.
