Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

expunge grand larceny charges from year of 1990

when I turned 18 made grave error in judgement.I was envolved in a theft of stereo equiptment. I did not take anything myself. I stupidly gave the key to someone who did.I was convicted for Grand Larceny and received probation, in which I paid all cost and fines. I was released from probation early for good behavior. I have not so much as received a traffic ticket since. Now I'm a proud mom that wants to be very active in childrens school. I would like to clean my record up so I can be class room parent and attend field trips with my children. How can I accomplish this with out being rich?

I'm afraid you can't--whether rich or not. There is no provision for the expungement of criminal convictions in the Commonwealth unless you were wrongfully convicted, can prove it, and have consequently received a pardon from the governor.

Your mistake may have been in not more vigorously defending yourself against this serious felony charge back when you had the opportunity to do so.
