Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
extortion
My 90 year old father has been wiriting checks to a local woman in large amounts sometimes days apart $1000-3000 and many of the checks are written by her and signed by him. We feel she is threating him in some way. What if anything can we do?

Re: extortion
Time to have a serious chat with father regarding this anomalous situation to determine what may be going on here, and, futhermore, what can be reasonably brought to bear to stop it(if anything).
If the answer is nothing and the old man either rejects your attempts to discuss it or continues to write these checks without any explanation or for any justifiable reason and continues to dissapate his assets in this manner, then you(or another relative)will have to consider petitioning the local court to be appointed as a conservator of his financial affairs.
