Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Federal or State court
If you are charged with felonies; you have been waiting for trial of over 6 months and is being tried in county court; is there an advantage or disadvantage to be tried in federal court. Do you have a choice? We feel that our county may be unfair in this instant. The accuser's aunt works in the court system.

Re: Federal or State court
State criminal charges are normally tried in state and not federal courts and it's not a matter of the defendant choosing one or the other.
The fact that the accuser's aunt works in the court system in and of itself means virtually nothing with
respect to the defendant's ability to get a fair trial in the state court in which s/he has been charged.
