Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Felon Spouse Lives with Hunter

My wife has two felonly charges against her for check forgery from 10 years ago.I don't have a criminal history.Being a hunter, I own several guns which are locked in a gun safe.Is it legal for me to have guns with my wife's background? Second, is she able to fire my guns with me while I'm target practicing?

Re: Felon Spouse Lives with Hunter

Yes, as one without a record of felony convictions, you are entitled to own and possess firearms, irrespective of who your spouse or house companions may be(and with whatever felony baggage they may be packing).

The restriction on firearms with respect to convicted felons, as I understand it, applies to

ownership as well as possession.(Possession may be interpreted as merely holding the firearm in one's hands.)

You should be able to figure out the rest with respect to your second question.
